    Meet the doctor

    In January of 2001, I opened Newton Wellesley Children’s Doctor: a Solo pediatric practice. My main reason for establishing the Solo pediatric practice was to be able to provide genuinely individualized, high quality care for children in a family-oriented, traditional office setting. I wanted to become a Solo practitioner to provide children and families true continuity of care by being there every day to address their medical concerns. Each and every family has consistent access to me as their very own pediatrician, day and night. This, I truly believe, provides every child with the type of care old time family doctors afforded their patients, not so long ago.

    In my over 25 years of pediatric practice, I have seen my little patients grow and thrive into adolescence and young adulthood. Being a Solo practitioner has blessed me with close connections to my patients. The beauty of a quality, long standing pediatrician/patient relationship is that it encourages my patients to see me as another trusted person to reach out to as well as a confidant for personal, medical concerns. This is why some of my patients continue to see me well into their college years and beyond. I continue to welcome this, as my patients often find it easier to address their medical concerns with the same doctor they’ve known growing up. Long term, close knit relationships with my patients are a huge part of my professional legacy as a pediatrician.

    Special interests

    In addition to addressing the many medical conditions children have, I have deep interests in the following:

    • Holistic approach to nutrition and lifestyle that supports emotional health as well as physical health
    • Connections between gut health and improving the immune system
    • How to read and respond to your child’s behavior in ways that bring out their best potential

    Each of these areas would be individually tailored to your own child and family dynamics.

     

     

    Outside the Office

    At home, I love gardening and using the homegrown vegetables in cooking. I highly value spending time with my husband and two daughters. As a family, you can generally find us outdoors hiking, bicycling, gardening, and walking through the neighborhood. We love nature!

    Ally Hickey

    Office Manager

    Ally is an integral part of our team as office manager. Ally assists clinically when needed and typically greets families, coordinates patient care, and serves as a wonderful resource for our families. She has been with the practice since February 2019 and has been in the medical field for over 9 years. When she’s not at work, she loves watching crime documentaries with her husband and dog Gaby.

    Nicole Ramos

    Medical Assistant

    As the Medical Assistant, Nicole helps answer your phone calls, greet families, check in patients, helps perform clinical duties and is a friendly face for patients and families alike. Nicole has been with the practice since February 2022 and has worked actively with children for 8 years at a daycare as lead teacher. When she is not at work, Nicole enjoys spending time working out/being active, taking her beloved golden retriever/husky on a run or a hike and spending time with her family and friends.

    Staff is always friendly. Dr. Shani is the best pediatrician- cares for my kids and listens to me always. If
